House Museum Payán

After a light 10minute stroll arrive at House Museum Payán which houses in its museum part of the island’s history as a prison and displays some objects made by former prisoners. On the second floor find the exhibition of the ancient cultures that formerly inhabited the island as well as a brief history of how the island was run as a penal colony.

An introductory talk is offered in the auditorium.

La Chonta Trial

This trail runs behind the old prison and last roughly 45 minutes. This is a hike that will allow you to study the native flora on the island and arrive at the zone where the prisoners would formerly collect fruit from the trees. It is compulsory to wear rubber boots which can be rented in the park.
