Visit begins on local hybrid-transport that fits 4-5 people, through main attractions where is possible to appreciate Mompox unique colonial architecture: The "Calle Real del Medio" stands-out with whitewashed walls of homes behind imposing wooden doors and finely carved wooden-balconies spilling-over with flowering bougainvillea. The scenic "Calle de la Albarrada" runs alongside the river. Visit the six colonial churches in town being Santa Barbara Church the most unique in Colombia, constructed in 1630, it has an octagonal Moorish and baroque bell-tower with balconies at the top. The San Agustin church holds golden-ornate Holy Sepulcher, carried through streets on shoulders of Nazarenes during Easter Week processions.
