It has a museum, a laboratory, an experimental greenhouse, a reproductive centre to provide all information available about the uses, work and environmental advantages of bamboo. Guadua is one of 1200 species of bamboo in the world. Colombia has 45 endemic species. Guadua is of great ecological importance; it helps regulate the soils humidity; just one hectare of guadua absorbs 45 to 55 tons of carbon-dioxide per year and its wood is used in homebuilding and furniture.
