Half day visit to Usiacuri, home to most important indigenous reservation in region. Located 38km southeast from Barranquilla Usiacuri was discovered in 1533 by Conquistador Francisco César. Usiacuri gained national and international notoriety for its medicinal healing waters.
Once in Usiacuri visit "Julio Flórez" House Museum, local handicrafts made from Iraca palm: purses, baskets, picture-frames, and mats. Their commercialization provides local artisans, combined with tourism, a sustainable industry.
The visit continues to colored colonial-style church "Santo Domingo". Move onto a nature reserve known for its mineral cold springs. Once inside tropical dry forest observe native flora and fauna and swim in its waters. Return to Barranquilla.
