Cartagena de Indias is Colombia’s most beautiful city, with a wonderfully preserved colonial Old Town (UNESCO World Heritage). Step into the heart of Cartagena and let the city’s soul unfold around you. We’ll see countless historic churches, colonial houses and monuments, and stroll through narrow, cobbled streets while learning its rich history. Cartagena was where the Spaniards stored treasures looted in South America, attracting many pirates. Monumental, kilometer-long fortifications—still impressively preserved—recall those times. We’ll also visit the San Felipe de Barajas fortress, and end our trip at Las Bóvedas, a series of 23 arches and 47 vaults built in the 18th century as part of Cartagena’s colonial defense system. Today, they’ve been transformed into a vibrant corridor full of life and color.
